Beginning of the Apostles' Fast

The Apostles' Fast is an Orthodox Christian period of prayer and restraint before the feast of Saints Peter and Paul. Believers reflect on the apostles' example and make more room for spiritual life, generosity and attention to others.

How it is celebrated: worshippers attend services, pray, help people in need and follow their church community's fasting practices. Food is only one part of the observance; reconciliation and examining personal habits matter too.

The fast does not have the same length every year. Its beginning depends on Easter, while its end is tied to the apostles' feast, so the interval between them changes.
