Russian Armed Forces Military Transportation Service Day
June 18 · Level 9 · #334 of 2238
This Russian military observance honors the service responsible for organizing military transportation. Its specialists coordinate the movement of personnel, equipment and supplies, matching the armed forces’ requirements with available transport capacity.
How it is celebrated: units hold ceremonial formations, congratulate military and civilian staff and present awards. Veterans and the service’s history are recognized, with attention to the planning that keeps movements on schedule.
The service’s Russian name can sound as though it concerns communications. Here, however, the word refers to transport links: its work involves railways, waterways and air routes, with stations, ports and airfields central to the job.
