International Tequila Day

This is a day to raise a glass to Mexico's famous agave spirit. Tequila fans and bars around the world join in.

How it is celebrated: bartenders shake up Margaritas and Palomas, hold tastings and explain the difference between blanco, reposado and añejo. Connoisseurs say a good tequila is meant for slow sipping, much like a fine brandy.

The agave landscape and the old tequila distilleries of Jalisco in Mexico have been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2006.
