International Read to Me Day
March 19 · Level 1 · #2171 of 2238

This is a day for grown-ups to read aloud to children, and to each other too. Reading aloud turns a book into a shared adventure and helps little ones fall in love with words and stories.
How it is celebrated: parents, grandparents, teachers and librarians host story hours, bedtime readings and read-alouds with funny voices for every character. You can also pick a childhood favourite and take turns reading it with friends or colleagues.
Researchers have long found that being read to builds a child's vocabulary well before the child can read alone.
