International Day of Friendship
July 30 · Level 5 · #1188 of 2238

The International Day of Friendship celebrates the trust between people that can bring communities and cultures closer together. The UN recognises friendship as a way to encourage peace, dialogue and mutual support.
How it is celebrated: friends make time to meet, send thoughtful messages or do something together. Schools and community groups organise cultural exchanges and activities where people can get to know someone from a different background or generation.
Friendship has more than one place on the calendar: many countries keep their own friendship days. The UN General Assembly proclaimed the international observance on 30 July in 2011.
