International Epilepsy Day

International Epilepsy Day

International Epilepsy Day builds understanding of epilepsy and supports the people living with it. It challenges prejudice and draws attention to barriers that can affect education, employment, relationships and access to care.

How it is celebrated: patient groups and specialists organise awareness events, share personal experiences and discuss the support people need in everyday life. Campaigns also encourage communities to challenge discrimination and listen to people with epilepsy.

The date moves each year: the observance falls on the second Monday of February. That means 9 February is its date in some years, rather than a permanent place on the calendar.
