International Dentist's Day
February 9 · Level 3 · #1723 of 2238
International Dentist's Day recognises the professionals who help people keep their teeth healthy and their smiles comfortable. It is also a chance to bring prevention into the conversation, before toothache becomes the reason for an appointment.
How it is celebrated: dental teams exchange congratulations, while clinics share information about their work and organise educational activities. Patient events and awareness posts focus on everyday oral care and the importance of looking after teeth consistently.
The date coincides with the feast of Saint Apollonia, traditionally invoked by people suffering from toothache. This gives the occasion a connection to a much older history than modern dentistry.
