Russian Internal Affairs Officers' Day
November 10 · Level 10 · #140 of 2238

Russian Internal Affairs Officers' Day recognizes personnel whose work includes maintaining public order, investigating crime and protecting public safety. It is also an occasion to thank service veterans and remember colleagues who died in the line of duty.
How it is celebrated: award presentations, formal gatherings, concerts and remembrance ceremonies mark the day. Officers assigned to a shift continue their regular duties throughout the celebrations.
The familiar name “Militia Day” gave way to the current title in 2011, but the date remained tied to the 1917 decree establishing the workers' militia.
