International Day of Human Fraternity

The International Day of Human Fraternity is a UN observance promoting mutual respect and peaceful coexistence among people of different religions and beliefs. Its central idea is that differences need not prevent people from working together or caring for one another.

How it is celebrated: interfaith meetings, educational discussions and community events explore solidarity. Religious and secular organizations address prejudice and consider practical ways to build trust across communities.

The date recalls a document signed jointly in Abu Dhabi in 2019 by Pope Francis and the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, Ahmad Al-Tayyeb.
