Global Family Day

On 1 January people are invited to remember that all of humanity is one big family. It is a day to start the year with kind words for those nearby, far away, or not yet met.
How it is celebrated: people exchange greetings in different languages, phone relatives and friends abroad, join peace gatherings and wish their neighbours well.
The same date has been the Catholic Church's World Day of Peace since 1968, so New Year's Day carries a message of peace twice over.
