Arbor Day in China
March 12 · Level 7 · #700 of 2238
China's Arbor Day encourages tree planting and care for forests. It brings communities together around a tangible contribution to greener surroundings: planting a tree and helping it establish itself in a city, village or wider landscape.
How it is celebrated: school groups, volunteers and workplace teams join organized planting activities. Local communities also arrange environmental education and practical work to care for green spaces.
The date commemorates the death of Sun Yat-sen, who supported forestry development. The People's Republic of China officially adopted this date for Arbor Day in 1979.
