Bitcoin Pizza Day
May 22 · Level 5 · #1204 of 2238

The crypto community uses this day to remember the first well-known real-world purchase made with bitcoin. It is a playful holiday and a chance to look back at how much the price of digital money has changed.
How it is celebrated: fans order pizza, share photos of it online, and some companies and meetups throw themed parties and promotions.
On 22 May 2010 the programmer Laszlo Hanyecz paid 10,000 bitcoins for two Papa John's pizzas, a sum that would be worth far more than a whole pizzeria today.
