Apricot Day
January 9 · Level 1 · #2126 of 2238

A day for apricots: sweet, orange stone fruit that in winter mostly show up dried. It is a nice excuse to bring a bit of summer to the table.
How it is celebrated: people snack on fresh or dried apricots, open a jar of jam, bake tarts and toss dried ones into porridge, salads and slow-cooked dishes.
The Latin name of the apricot, Prunus armeniaca, literally means Armenian plum, and Armenia has long been linked with the fruit's early cultivation.
