World Water Day
March 22 · Level 8 · #578 of 2238

World Water Day focuses on freshwater and everyone's access to safe water and sanitation. Drinking is only part of the picture: reliable water supplies also support health, food production and functioning ecosystems.
How it is celebrated: schools and organisations hold lessons, exhibitions and discussions about water use. Community activities include cleaning riverbanks, sharing conservation advice and presenting projects that protect sources or improve water access.
Our blue planet has surprisingly little freshwater: it accounts for less than three percent of Earth's total water, despite water covering most of the surface.
