World IBD Day

This is a day to talk about Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, chronic conditions that are often invisible to the people around the patient. It helps those living with them feel supported and understood.

How it is celebrated: patient groups hold online meetings, talks by doctors and fundraisers, and supporters wear something purple, the colour of IBD awareness.

Crohn's disease is named after the American physician Burrill Crohn, who described it together with colleagues in 1932.
