Science Fiction Day
January 2 · Level 8 · #611 of 2238
Science Fiction Day celebrates stories that explore distant worlds, unfamiliar technologies and possible futures. The occasion falls on Isaac Asimov’s chosen birthday, honouring a writer known for the Foundation series and his robot stories.
How it is celebrated: fans revisit favourite books, organise film screenings and debate how fictional inventions might work. Sharing a short story with a newcomer is another way to join in, without needing to explain an entire imaginary universe first.
Asimov’s exact birth date is unknown. He celebrated on January 2, and that adopted birthday became the date associated with this celebration of the genre.
