Mickey Mouse's Birthday
November 18 · Level 7 · #678 of 2238
Mickey Mouse made his screen debut on 18 November 1928, and fans treat that date as his birthday. That day, the sound cartoon Steamboat Willie opened in New York, and a cheeky little mouse became the face of the Disney studio.
How it is celebrated: fans put on round mouse ears, rewatch classic cartoons and swap favourite episodes with friends. Parents often sit their kids down with the old shorts where it all began.
In the early cartoons Mickey spoke with the voice of Walt Disney himself, and he kept doing so until 1947.
