International Day of Education

This day reminds us that everyone has the right to learn, from a toddler to an adult picking up a new trade. The UN General Assembly proclaimed it in 2018, and it was first marked on 24 January 2019.
How it is celebrated: schools and universities hold open lessons and debates, while UNESCO and its partners run campaigns for the right to education. Each year has its own theme.
The day is tied to the fourth UN Sustainable Development Goal, which aims to give everyone inclusive, good-quality education by 2030.
