International Day of the Arabian Leopard
February 10 · Level 9 · #342 of 2238

This day shines a light on a rare big cat of the Arabian Peninsula and calls for its protection. The Arabian leopard is critically endangered, and its fate shows how fragile the region's mountain ecosystems are.
How it is celebrated: conservation groups hold talks, exhibitions and school events, and zoos and reserves share news about breeding and protection programmes.
The UN General Assembly established the day in 2023 on the initiative of Oman. The Arabian leopard is the smallest of all leopard subspecies.
