International Cli-Fi Day
April 20 · Level 8 · #652 of 2238
A day for books, films and stories about a changing climate and what it does to people. Cli-fi, short for climate fiction, covers tales where heatwaves, droughts and floods are part of the plot.
How it is celebrated: readers start themed book clubs, swap lists of favourite titles and rewatch films about the planet's future. Authors, bookshops and libraries often host talks and readings.
Octavia Butler's novel Parable of the Sower, published in 1993, opens in 2024 in a California battered by climate trouble and social breakdown.
