Dog Appreciation Day
August 26 · Level 3 · #1739 of 2238

This is a day to thank dogs for their loyalty, help and sheer joy, and to remember how many of them are still waiting for a home in shelters.
How it is celebrated: owners treat their pets to a long walk and snacks, shelters hold open days, and volunteers collect food and donations. Working dogs and therapy dogs get an extra round of thanks.
The day was started in 2004 by the American pet and family lifestyle expert Collen Paige. It honours every dog, whether pedigree or mixed breed.
