Chemist's Day
May 31 · Level 7 · #770 of 2238

Chemist's Day brings together researchers, teachers and people working in the chemical industry. It recognizes the expertise behind new materials, fertilizers and many everyday objects whose chemistry usually goes unnoticed.
How it is celebrated: workplaces honour employees and retired colleagues with awards and gatherings. Universities host talks, student performances and demonstrations that turn classroom formulas into something an audience can actually see.
University celebrations can follow a calendar of their own. Moscow State University's chemistry faculty also has a distinctive custom: dedicating successive celebrations to elements of the periodic table, giving each year's festivities a different chemical identity.
