Azerbaijan National Security Personnel Day
March 28 · Level 8 · #458 of 2238
Azerbaijan National Security Personnel Day honors the country's intelligence and security service staff. The professional observance recognizes their work protecting national security and sovereignty, while remembering those who served in earlier generations.
How it is celebrated: official ceremonies feature congratulations and awards for distinguished personnel. Representatives attend commemorative events, lay flowers and honor veterans, bringing remembrance into the day's formal proceedings.
The date points back to 1919, when an intelligence and counterintelligence unit was established in the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. The historical event behind the observance therefore predates the country's Soviet period.
