Azerbaijan’s Flower Festival is best known for the elaborate floral displays staged in Baku. Associated with Heydar Aliyev’s birthday, the event has transformed public spaces into outdoor showcases for floral art.
How it is celebrated: visitors stroll among flower-covered panels, decorative figures and arrangements, stopping to admire the designs and take photographs. In different years, concerts and other city events have accompanied the displays.
Flowers for major Baku exhibitions were brought in from several countries, giving these springtime scenes an international supply chain behind the petals.
